Privacy Policy for MemoKey

1. Our Stance on Privacy

At Homielab, we believe your keyboard should be private. MemoKey is designed to help you be productive, not to track you.

We do not collect, store, share, or sell your personal data. We do not know who you are, what you type, or what you save in your notes.

2. No Keylogging & The "Full Access" Warning

When you enable MemoKey in your device settings, your phone (iOS or Android) will show a standard system warning that third-party keyboards can "record what you type."

Here is the truth about how MemoKey works:

  • We do not log your keystrokes.
  • We do not scan your passwords or credit card numbers.
  • We do not upload your typing history.

We require "Full Access" strictly to perform the app's core functions: reading the notes you saved so you can paste them, and enabling features like haptic feedback and sound.

3. Data Storage & Cloud Backup

Local Data (Default):

By default, all notes, snippets, templates, and customizations are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app without a backup, this data is removed.

Cloud Backup (Optional):

You may choose to backup your data using your personal cloud service (iCloud for iOS or Google Drive for Android).

  • Google Drive Sign-In: To use Google Drive backup, you must authenticate with your Google Account. This authentication happens directly between you and Google. You are signing into Google, not into MemoKey. We do not receive, store, or see your Google login credentials.
  • Restricted Access: MemoKey requests access only to the specific backup files it creates (Application Data). We cannot see, read, or modify any other files (like photos or documents) in your Google Drive or iCloud.
  • No Server Access: Your data moves directly from your device to your cloud provider. It never passes through Homielab servers.

4. In-App Purchases & Payments

MemoKey offers a PRO version with extra features.

  • We do not process payments: All financial transactions are handled directly by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • We do not see your financial info: We never have access to your credit card number, bank details, or billing address.
  • We only receive an anonymous digital receipt from the Store that confirms a purchase was made so we can unlock the features on your device.

5. Third-Party Services & Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics tools to spy on your usage inside the app. We rely solely on the anonymous, aggregate download statistics provided by the App Store and Google Play Console (e.g., "Daily Downloads" or "Crash Reports") to ensure the app is working correctly.

6. Children’s Privacy

MemoKey does not knowingly collect data from children. Since the app is offline-first, requires no account registration with us, and collects no personal data, it is safe for use by all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app grows. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or our website.
